Hello beautiful people!!
I hope are having a great weekend so far and that it just keeps on getting better!
If you’re like me, you have more than one thing that you’ve done and that you like to do.
In the past, I’ve found that this was frowned upon. Find one thing and focus on that! Be defined by that! was the common consensus.
However, I am glad to see that things are changing. I came across a skills share video with singer, songwriter Kelis which was of her cooking and let me know that she’s a classically trained chef which make me so excited! It was obvious from the video that she loves it, she’s also been cooking officially for years (obviously news to me lol).
Why? You may ask. It’s because she didn’t allow the fame or her passion for music stop her from pursuing her other passion for cooking. She wasn’t afraid to reinvent, better yet, unfold that other part of what brings her joy.
I’ve had the same struggle over and over again. I have so many things I can do, which are things that bring me so much joy. However, knowing the right time to pursue each thing can be a challenge.
I have felt almost apologetic for not being able to stick to one thing so that others find it easier to assign me to a box. I love to express the creativity within me, and I am growing into being ok with not fitting neatly into someone else’s box.
Now am I saying be a jack of all trades and master of none? No.
What I am saying is don’t be boxed in or limited to doing just one thing when you have so much more that you can discover about yourself. Master your craft in every way possible, just don’t use it as an excuse to be stuck.
Awaken the passions in your heart that can be of benefit to the world. Become a writer, tennis player, singer, lawyer, nurse, fitness coach, painter. Whatever it is, give yourself the chance to find out what could be while you can.
